Editorial policy

This archive reports and organises material already published by third parties. A complaint, allegation or forum post is not a finding of wrongdoing. We distinguish between allegations and findings and link to original sources wherever possible.

Financial Ombudsman decisions do not operate as binding judicial precedent. They are included because they provide publicly available evidence of individual disputes and how those disputes were determined.

Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice.

What we publish

  • Published Financial Ombudsman Service decisions, court judgments, court filings and other public proceedings.
  • Official documents issued by Rooftop Mortgages Limited, BCM Global and other organisations where available publicly.
  • Regulatory material, including FCA, ICO and HM Land Registry material.
  • Company filings and portfolio-transfer announcements drawn from public registers.
  • Accounts published by members of the public, kept in a section that is visually and conceptually separate from official decisions.

What we do not do

  • Make allegations against any person or organisation.
  • Convert an allegation into a finding, or a finding into an allegation.
  • Describe a complaint as upheld unless the underlying decision says it was upheld.
  • Claim that a pattern is proven simply because several complaints concern the same subject matter.
  • Use emotionally loaded language unless quoting a source, and then only with clear attribution.
  • Publish personal data that this archive does not handle (see privacy standards).
