Source classification

Every record carries a source type, a source tier and an evidence status. Together they let a reader see, at a glance, what kind of material a record is and how much weight the source itself carries.

Source tiers

Tier 1

Court judgment, regulator, Financial Ombudsman Service or legislation.

Tier 2

Official Rooftop, BCM Global or other corporate publication.

Tier 3

Reputable journalism or professional commentary.

Tier 4

Public forum post, consumer account or review.

Evidence statuses

StatusMeaning
OFFICIAL FINDINGA determination made by a court, regulator or Ombudsman and recorded in a published document.
UPHELDThe published decision records that the complaint was upheld.
PARTIALLY UPHELDThe published decision records that the complaint was upheld in part.
NOT UPHELDThe published decision records that the complaint was not upheld.
SETTLED / RESOLVEDThe source records that the matter was settled or resolved without a determination.
ONGOINGThe source indicates the matter was unresolved at the date of publication.
ALLEGATION ONLYThe source records an allegation. No finding by a court, regulator or Ombudsman is recorded.
