Submit a public record

This archive grows by adding published material that other people locate. If you know of an Ombudsman decision, court judgment, official document or public discussion that should be here, it can be submitted for consideration.

What is useful

A Financial Ombudsman Service decision reference (for example, a DRN number). The decision is then downloaded from the Ombudsman's published database and read.
A court citation or a copy of a judgment or sealed order. Hearing listings are not published.
A link to a document published by Rooftop Mortgages Limited or BCM Global, including superseded versions of tariffs and policies.
A company filing, regulatory publication or securitisation document.
A link to a public forum post or review. These are recorded as unverified borrower reports and kept visually separate from official findings.
A correction to anything already published here.

How to submit

This is a static research archive with no account system and no database, so submissions are made by email rather than through a form. Send the reference or link to the address published on the corrections page, with:

the reference, citation or URL;
a one-line description of what it concerns;
where it is your own document, an explicit statement that you consent to it being published, and confirmation that you have removed or are content for us to remove identifying details.

Please do not send anything that is subject to a confidentiality obligation, a settlement agreement or a court order restricting publication.

Source check

The original document is located and read in full. A reference on its own is not enough: if the document cannot be obtained, the reference goes on the under-verification register instead of being published.

Status check

The record is classified by evidence status and source tier, and the allegation, business response and finding are recorded in separate fields. Anything that cannot be separated in that way is not published.

Privacy check

Names of individuals, addresses, contact details, account numbers, signatures, bank and medical information, anything identifying a child and the names of junior employees are removed. Where a source is anonymous, that anonymity is preserved.

Permission check

Material that is not already public is only considered where the person who holds it gives explicit permission for publication, and it is still subject to the privacy check.

Nothing publishes automatically

Every submission is reviewed before anything appears on the site, and material that fails any of the checks above is not published. The workflow is set out on the methodology page.
